It is my pleasure to once again invite you to attend Vancouver Island’s premiere martial arts event, the COASTAL MARTIAL ARTS OPEN. It's through your continued support, our tournament  has proudly become a favorite event among competitors from across Vancouver Island and the lower mainland.  Since 2004, The Coastal Martial Arts Open has developed a solid reputation as a well organized tournament that is competitor focused. As always, this event promises to provide top quality competition in a fair, fun and friendly environment.  Don’t miss the Coastal Martial Arts Open, where every competitor is treated like a champion.

Pre-registration: First division $40, additional divisions $10 each.  Pre-registration

must be postmarked by September 11, 2009 to be eligible (NO EXCEPTIONS). Pre-registration must

be paid by cheque or money order only payable to CMA Open, 5065 Dundalk Ave.,

Registration at door: First division $45, additional divisions $10 each. We will accept cash only at the door, no cheques

please. We reserve the right to refuse any entry.

 

Coaches/competition floor pass: $20 to gain access to the competitor floor area.

 

Spectators: Spectator admission is free.

 

Schedule: Registration starts at 8:30 am. Black belt and volunteer meeting at 10:00 am, first divisions

start at 10:30 am sharp.

 

Rules: All forms, weapons, and sparring divisions will follow SKIL rules.  Please note that the rules arbitrator, whose decision will be final,

will settle any rules disputes.

 

Safety Equipment: Mouthpiece, groin cups (males), hand pads, foots pads and headgear must be worn.

Groin cups may not be worn outside of uniform. Equipment must be in good repair and

safe condition, final decision lies with center referee or rules arbitrator.

 

Appropriate Divisions: All ranks must compete at their age as of January 1, 2009. Allcompetitors must enter their appropriate age, style and rank divisions. Divisions

may be adjusted at the discretion of the director, to accommodate weight and size differences

in the interest of safety and fairness. We reserve the right to refuse any entry.

 

Floor access: Only tournament staff, officials, coaches (with pass) and performing competitors will be

allowed on the competition floor. Warming up will be restricted to the warm up area

only. No exceptions!

 

Conduct: Spectators, coaches and competitors are expected to treat all tournament staff and officials with dignity and respect. Inappropriate language, unacceptable behavior or arguing with staff, referees or officials may result in disqualification of the competitor without the refund of entry fees.
